18 At-Home Date Night Ideas, From A Spa Experience To Fine Dining

We love a date night. Who doesn't? The chance to step out of your day-to-day routine, put on your glad rags (or jeans and a T-shirt, you can wear whatever you want on date night!) and have a romantic and fun-filled evening with your significant other like you don’t have a care in the world. Unfortunately, while there are many other more important things the global pandemic has affected, it has also made date nights a little more tricky.

Restaurants and bars might be off the cards for now but that doesn't mean you can't recreate date night at home. We've put together a list of fun-filled at home date night ideas and activities that you can enjoy without leaving the house...

1 Spa experience

Turn your home into your favourite spa for the evening by lighting some candles, applying face masks to each other and pouring yourselves some champagne. You'll finish your at-home date night feeling revived and refreshed.

2 Sing your hearts out

You've probably heard each other's singing skills in the shower but now it's time to put on the performance of your life. Press play on some karaoke classics, pour a glass of 'dutch courage' and let the karaoke battle commence. We can highly recommend Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody'. Our neighbours on the other hand...

3 Conquer your favourite cocktail

Cocktails never taste as good at home but that's all about to change. Fill your fridge with cocktail ingredients and attempt each other's favourites - it will be like having your own personal bar service at home.

4 Fine dining in your front room

Experience fine dining in the comfort of your own home. Chef Louisa Ellis cooks your delicious three-course meal and delivers it to your front door. All you have to do is follow Louis' simple instructions to reheat each course, set the table and get dressed up. Minimum effort, maximum taste.

5 Get artistic

Draw each other. Yes, really. This could be very romantic or really offensive depending on your art skills (and how nice you're feeling). Either way it's a fun activity and you could frame your finished masterpieces if you're still together by the end of the evening.

6 Themed Movie Nights

We imagine that like us you’ve made your way through every crime documentary, 1990s rom-com and binge-worthy Netflix series in 2020, but it's time to take it one step further. Make an evening of it by picking an iconic film, dressing up as your favourite characters and get snacks and drinks to match. Whoever has the best costume gets to skip the washing up.

7 Recreate your favourite restaurant

Forget making a reservation two weeks in advance and bring your favourite restaurant to your front room. Recreate your favourite dishes, pour some wine, light some candles and put on some mood music - you'll both be wined and dined but without having to sit through the tipsy bus journey home.

8 Make like J-Lo and ARod and learn a dance routine

There's a reason why everyone became obsessed with TikTok dance routines in 2020 - they're so much fun! The A-listers couldn't get enough and neither could we. Top tip - the tipsier you are, the funnier it is. Rate each other's skills to bring our your competitive sides.

9 Have fun with some fondue

Any meal can be improved by adding cheese (in our opinion). Cut up some of your favourite snacks and get dipping!

10 Indoor picnic

The great thing about an indoor picnic is that you don't have to rely on the weather. Pop all of your favourite picnic foods in a basket, get comfy on your living floor and pretend it's a hot summer's day.

11 Bring the bake off tent to your kitchen

Bring out your inner Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and compete to be 'star baker' in your own kitchen. Remember, no soggy bottoms!

12 Become the wine connoisseur you've always wanted to be

If getting to know wine has always been on your to-do list then now is the time to learn your Merlots from your Malbecs. Get wines that you wouldn't normally drink to make it more interesting. A charcuterie board is always (repeat always) a good idea.

13 Give a room a make-over

Transform a room in your home with a lick of paint. A fun evening that will tick something off your to-do list. Go bright and bold to add a little pizazz to your home that will brighten up any rainy day.

14 Have a bouji bath together

Can you get more romantic (and relaxing) than having a bath together? We don't think so. Add some petals, light some candles, pour a glass of wine and breathe in some essential oils.

15 Start a couple's book club

Agree what book you're both going to read and set a date for your book club. Write questions and notes on the plot and characters and discuss your answers. Why not start with a classic neither of your have read?

16 Binge-watch a box set

There's nothing better than getting lost in a box set. Choose your series, get some snacks and watch each every episode back to back. We can highly recommend The Crown. Season 4 is on Netflix or if you're all about DVDs seasons 1-3 are out now.

17 Learn a new hobby together

Spend time with your 'SO' and learn a new skill at the same time. Whether you've always wanted to learn how to play the guitar or painting pottery has been on your bucket list, now is the time.

18 Become yoga bunnies

Stretch off and get ready to show each other your best downward-facing dog. Known for it's body and mind benefits, you'll finish your at home date feeling rejuvenated... and a bit sweaty. Namaste.
